We are a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation that aids all veterans but we prioritize female vets.
Winter can be a tough time of year for our female veterans. The holidays end and the short cold days of winter can lead to loneliness, isolation, depression, and hopelessness. These feelings and emotions can lead to worsening mental health, physical health, and suicidal ideation. Penn WAVER wants to try and bring York County Female Veterans together this winter season through a series of gatherings to build connection, foster friendships, and ultimately build a support group for female veterans which can sustain them through the low points in life.
We our conducting one facilitated group meeting a month, one social activity each month, and two or three zoom meetings each month to keep female veterans connected and engaged this winter.
We work to help the people providing services with the people who need them. Referrals consist of housing or utility assistance; transitional housing; food resources; clothing; GED courses; vocational training; work related needs; and mental health / recovery services.
Assistance programs consist of eviction notice payments, shut-off notice payments, grocery store vouchers, transportation assistance, and work related or clothing vouchers.
Future Goal:
